Product Review and a Giveaway

This post wasn't something I planned. I hadn't even thought about blogging today. I've just been cleaning around the house today and getting ready to go out to dinner for my brother's birthday tonight. Then something made me think about birthdays, which made me think about birthday cake. Then I thought that it would be kind of sad to have a birthday dinner without the celebratory birthday cake so I baked a batch of cupcakes using plain ole box Butter Recipe box cake mix. Shame on me, I know, but making a cake from scratch doesn't appeal to me at all and I'm almost 100% positive that Duncan Hines has their stuff together and do it better than I could. Well, it turns out that I only had a container of vanilla icing in the pantry. That wasn't going to cut it, so I ran to the store and picked up a container of chocolate butter cream. As I'm walking back up the isle I see something that I hadn't ever noticed before. A shiny bottle of something that looked goooood on the label. For $2.19, I thought I would give it a try.

It was this...

Duncan Hines new Amazing Glazes. The label says "A lightly decadent dessert topping". Those people at Duncan Hines are so humble. If I had created the label it would have said something like this, "Duncan Hines-- OMG this stuff is rock your socks off fabulous and you should take me home today!" Maybe that's why I'm not in marketing, but for real, this little bottle of ooey-gooey chocolate goodness deserves an adjective far more impressive than "amazing".

I mean come on, if you can make a cupcake look like this, you are pretty awesome. Look at all that drippy, shiny, perfect chocolate... and I don't even like chocolate. Unless it's filled with peanut butter, or covering a yellow cake that is. Back to the icing on the cake cupcake... It's perfect. It's the perfect sweetness. It's light and a great alternative to heavy buttercream.

The directions are simple. Remove the cap and inner seal. Microwave opened for 35 seconds. Replace cap. Shake. Pour. It does the rest.

I'm going to send one My Pretties reader a bottle of this stuff (Chocolate or Vanilla- your choice!) so leave a comment to enter. You must be a My Pretties follower to win! Comments will be accepted until midnight CST this coming Sunday!

Duncan Hines is not compensating me for my opinions, this post or the giveaway. But they can if they want to *wink*!

I would love to try something like that - icing is not one of favorite things and this seems like it would be so much better!
